Job description
- Respond to publishing and editing requests from NSF staff, creating and updating webpages, news and event items, and official documents.
- Create, format, and maintain website content within Drupal and support publishing activities across additional enterprise platforms, such as ServiceNow Employee Center and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Ensure published content meets Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards, plain-language requirements, and NSF web publishing guidelines.
- Review webpages for content accuracy, relevance, usability, and accessibility compliance.
- Upload and manage digital assets, ensuring proper file organization, metadata, tagging, accessibility, and publishing requirements.
- Manage and prioritize publishing requests within the NSF Web Team ticketing system, monitoring dashboards and workflows to ensure timely completion.
- Apply NSF search engine optimization (SEO) strategies consistently across webpage content to support discoverability and communications goals.
- Collaborate with content owners, designers, and developers to resolve publishing issues and improve web content workflows.

Requirements
Spire Communications is hiring a full-time website publisher with demonstrated Drupal and content management experience to support communications for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). This role manages the intake, editing, and publishing of content requests for NSF.gov and the NSF Employee Portal, serving as the operational backbone of day-to-day content publishing across NSF’s content management and workflow systems. The ideal candidate has experience working in Drupal and familiarity with enterprise content management platforms, ticketing systems, and digital publishing workflows; experience with additional platforms such as ServiceNow and SharePoint is a plus.
We will only consider senior-level candidates with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in web publishing (including at least 5 years in technology or science communications) with a demonstrated history supporting large-scale enterprise websites., * Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in communications or related discipline.
- 6+ years of professional experience in web publishing or digital content management.
- Demonstrated experience managing content within Drupal environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HTML.
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
- Demonstrated experience communicating scientific/technical subject matter, with expertise in one or more NSF focus or technology areas (e.g., Biology, Engineering, Computing, AI, Cybersecurity); federal or federally funded research experience a plus.
- Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-level websites, not limited to small-scale or startup projects.

Salary range: $100,000 - $140,000
