Job description

We are looking for a Platform Engineering leader to own and evolve our Internal Developer Portal (IDP) as a first-class product for developers. In this role, you will partner with Product Management to define the strategy, roadmap, and adoption of a centralized service catalog and self-service capabilities that reduce friction and cognitive load for engineering teams. You will establish clear ā€œGolden Pathsā€ that enable teams to build, deploy, and operate software safely and efficiently while maintaining flexibility to innovate.

You will act as a key connector between platform engineering, architecture, security, and application teams-ensuring our cloud platform tooling is intuitive, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards. Through this work, you will directly improve developer velocity, onboarding efficiency, and platform consistency across the organization.

In this role, you will lead and grow a team of Platform Engineers, investing in their coaching, technical excellence, and career development. You are a hands-on, player-coach leader who values strong engineering fundamentals, continuous learning, and outcome-driven delivery.

Requirements

  • You have experience leading internal platforms or developer-facing products and treating developer experience as a core product capability.
  • You bring a strong understanding of modern software delivery practices, including CI/CD, GitOps, and cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • You are familiar with the Internal Developer Portal ecosystem and tools such as Backstage, Port, or Cortex.
  • You excel at building alignment and consensus across Security, SRE, Architecture, and Engineering leadership.
  • You have experience managing and developing teams across multiple locations and time zones.
  • You are comfortable partnering with Product Managers and delivery leads to prioritize work and drive predictable outcomes.
  • You have helped establish AI-assisted development as a standard engineering capability by embedding it into developer workflows and defining clear ways of working (e.g., prompt conventions, shared context, and guardrails) that improve consistency, accelerate onboarding, and reduce cognitive load while maintaining engineering rigor.
  • You are a continuous learner who seeks opportunities to adopt new technologies and improve both technical and business acumen.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Skills and experience:

You have 10+ years of experience in engineering roles, including 5+ years leading and developing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to build reliable, scalable platforms that enable other teams to succeed.

You bring experience across several of the following areas:

  • Internal Developer Platforms and service catalogs (e.g. Backstage or similar frameworks)
  • Cloud platforms and container orchestration (AWS preferred; Kubernetes and Docker)
  • Infrastructure as Code and automation (Terraform or equivalent)
  • Software development using languages such as TypeScript, Python, Java or Go
  • API and microservice design in distributed systems
  • DevOps and DevSecOps practices across the full SDLC
  • Observability concepts including metrics, logs, traces, and open standards such as OpenTelemetry
  • CI/CD tooling and developer workflows (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Confluence, pipeline orchestration tools)
  • Technical documentation, including product requirements, high-level architecture and detailed design artifacts
