Job description

Our client is seeking a hands-on Database Cloud Engineer to design, build, and support AWS cloud database infrastructure while assisting with the migration of enterprise Oracle and SQL databases from on-premises environments to AWS. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience who is passionate about cloud architecture, automation, and high-availability database platforms. Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud database solutions.
Assist with migrating Oracle and SQL databases from on-premises environments to AWS.
Deploy and maintain multi-region AWS database environments for high availability and disaster recovery.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitLab pipelines.
Write IaC to deploy custom applications and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) tools in AWS.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance and reliability.
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to deliver cloud-based database solutions.
Support AWS networking components including VPCs, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect.
Participate in additional cloud infrastructure initiatives and technical projects as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Hands-on experience designing and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure.
Strong experience with Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with AWS RDS databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL and Oracle.
Experience with Amazon Redshift.
Experience migrating enterprise databases to AWS.
Experience deploying and supporting multi-region AWS environments.
Practical knowledge of AWS infrastructure, including compute, network, and storage.
Hands-on experience with AWS networking technologies including VPC, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Databricks and MongoDB/MongoDB Atlas.
Experience with containerization technologies including AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud database environments in highly regulated organizations.
