Job description

To maintain the technology equipment throughout the schools in the district in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times in accordance with the mission of the school district., * Perform network administration and problem resolution as they pertain to the network (local and wide area)

  • Install, configure and maintain all LAN/WAN hardware such as file servers, routers, firewalls, switches, VolP phone system, and networked peripheral devices
  • Assists with access control systems
  • Maintain inventory of network devices
  • Manage backup systems
  • Assists with maintenance of Internet content filtering hardware and software
  • Administer user accounts across systems
  • Assists in the selection of technology equipment and systems
  • Assists with training district personnel in the proper use of technology
  • Support with device repairs: desktops, laptops, and Chromebooks
  • Promotes good public relations through professional and ethical execution of job responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

The job of Systems Administrator involves adapting to a changing educational environment and therefore, while accurate, this list is not exhaustive.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer technology or equivalent technician training and on the job experience; industry certifications a plus
  • Five years’ experience in network installation, maintenance, and administration, preferred
  • Experience with network device configurations: routers, switches, servers, printers, desktops, Chromebooks, cameras, etc.
  • Understanding of network architectures including LAN/WAN topologies and virtual networking
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows OS (workstation and server) and Microsoft Active Directory
  • Experience with network and user based software applications such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Google Suite for Education, and VMware
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Trustees find appropriate and acceptable
