Job description

The Advancement Data Analyst is an inaugural role within Trinity College’s Office of Advancement. Reporting to the Executive Director of Research, Prospect Management, Advancement Information Services & Database Management, the Data Analyst plays a critical role in expanding the use of data to inform fundraising strategy, with a shared focus on Reunion Giving and predictive modeling to support Major Gifts pipeline development. This position translates institutional and constituent data into actionable insights that guide solicitation strategy, volunteer engagement, portfolio strategy, staffing decisions, and investment of resources.

The Data Analyst leverages Trinity data and external benchmarks to provide context, identify opportunity, and strengthen fundraising strategy and performance.

The ideal candidate is analytically rigorous and advancement-savvy, comfortable working across systems, partnering with frontline fundraisers and alumni engagement colleagues, and communicating findings clearly to diverse audiences. As a foundational role, the Data Analyst will help establish dashboards, standards, and best practices for data-driven decision-making across the advancement operation., * Serve as the primary analytics partner for Reunion Giving, supporting annual strategies and multi-year planning with data-driven insights

  • Develop and refine predictive models, scoring, and segmentation strategies to identify prospects with capacity and likelihood to advance into Major/Principal gift cultivation.
  • Analyze giving behaviors, engagement patterns, and affinity indicators to identify opportunities for deeper donor relationships and longer-term pipeline growth.
  • Identify data gaps impacting reunion and major gifts strategy and recommend improvements to data collection, coding standards, and business processes.
  • Document analytical methodologies, definitions, and reporting standards to ensure continuity and scalability.
  • Conduct benchmarking and comparative analyses against peer institutions related to reunion participation, leadership giving, and campaign readiness; monitor analytics trends and recommend practices that strengthen strategy.
  • Collaborate with Reunion Giving, Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, Prospect Research, Prospect Management, and frontline gift officers to align analysis with fundraising priorities.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights through written summaries, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Provide reporting and analysis that supports pre-campaign planning and strategic investment of major gift officer time and outreach

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree, preferred
  • 3-5 years of work experience
  • 5-8 years of work experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and deliver insights that inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Experience building dashboards for executive and frontline fundraising audiences.
  • Proficiency with data analysis, predictive modeling, segmentation, propensity scoring and visualization tools.
  • Experience working relational datasets or CRM systems (Slate preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle confidential information appropriately., For all faculty positions, completion of the Ph.D. or appropriate equivalent is expected. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate and interdisciplinary teaching in a liberal arts context, and a well-articulated plan for sustained research.
