Job description
At Croft, we believe technology should work for our customers, not against them - and nowhere is that more important than in the schools we support every day. As a School IT Technician, you’ll be the on-the-ground expert keeping a school’s IT systems running smoothly, so teachers can teach and students can learn without disruption.
You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day technology that powers the classroom - from Windows PCs and iPads to Chromebooks and Google Workspace - while acting as the vital link between the school and Croft’s wider engineering team when things need extra firepower.
What you’ll be doing

Providing onsite support for the school’s IT systems, networks and end-user devices

Carrying out proactive and reactive maintenance on hardware, operating systems and core applications

Monitoring and troubleshooting network and system performance, escalating where needed
-
Managing accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Google Workspace

Deploying and configuring Windows PCs, iPads and Chromebooks for staff and students
-
Keeping accurate records of IT assets, software licences and configuration changes
-
Logging, updating and resolving tasks and incidents within SLA
-
Working alongside school IT staff and Croft engineers to resolve more complex issues

Upholding safeguarding and data protection standards in everything you do

Supporting the wider Education Service desk or Croft Professional Services/IT Service Desk when not on-site
What you’ll bring
- Experience supporting Windows Desktop and Windows Server environments
Requirements
-
A working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Group Policy and Active Directory

Familiarity with setting up and deploying iPads and Chromebooks
-
Strong troubleshooting instincts and a genuine love of solving problems
-
The people skills to support non-technical staff and students with patience and clarity
-
A proactive, organised approach to managing multiple priorities
-
Previous experience in an education IT environment is a bonus, not a must
You’ll also need:
-
GCSEs or equivalent (preferred)
-
Windows Server experience and/or IT certifications such as CompTIA or Microsoft (advantageous)

An enhanced DBS and barred list check
