Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be working with a successful and expanding group of schools to recruit an experienced Assistant IT Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional looking to take the next step in their career, supporting multiple education settings and helping to deliver reliable, secure and innovative technology solutions.
Working alongside the IT Manager, you’ll help oversee day-to-day ICT operations across several school sites, providing leadership to onsite technicians while ensuring staff and students have access to high-quality IT services that enhance teaching, learning and business operations., As Assistant IT Manager, you will:
- Support the management of IT services across multiple school sites.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of IT Technicians.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support where required.
- Assist with planning, implementing and maintaining ICT infrastructure.
- Ensure systems remain secure, reliable and compliant with relevant standards.
- Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server and endpoint management.
- Monitor network performance and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Assist with hardware procurement, deployment and asset management.
- Support disaster recovery, backups and business continuity planning.
- Work closely with school leadership teams to identify technology improvements.
- Contribute to IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations and new technology rollouts.
- Maintain documentation and ensure ICT policies and procedures are followed.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in an IT support or infrastructure role, ideally within education.
- Experience supervising or mentoring IT staff.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Active Directory & Group Policy
- Microsoft 365
- Networking (Switches, VLANs, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP)
- Endpoint management
- Hardware troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads across multiple sites.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel between schools is required.
