Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a successful education organisation seeking an experienced Assistant IT Manager to join their growing technology team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious IT professional who enjoys a varied role, combining hands-on technical support with team leadership. Working across a number of school sites, you’ll play a key role in ensuring staff and students benefit from secure, reliable and innovative technology solutions.

No two days are the same. From overseeing infrastructure projects and supporting network performance to mentoring IT support staff and driving service improvements, you’ll be at the heart of delivering an outstanding ICT service., Support the IT Manager in the day-to-day delivery of ICT services across multiple education sites. Provide technical leadership and guidance to on-site IT Support Technicians. Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software and networking issues. Maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 services. Assist with the installation, configuration and maintenance of network infrastructure including switches, wireless networks and firewalls. Lead on device deployments, upgrades and lifecycle management. Monitor system performance and implement improvements to maximise reliability and security. Support the planning and delivery of IT projects across multiple locations. Ensure backup procedures, disaster recovery processes and cyber security standards are maintained. Build strong working relationships with school leaders and staff, providing excellent customer service and technical advice. Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset registers and operational procedures.About You

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who combines excellent technical knowledge with strong organisational and communication skills.

You’ll ideally have experience of:

Supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments. Microsoft 365 administration. Active Directory, Group Policy and user management. Network administration including TCP/IP, switching and wireless technologies. Virtualisation technologies and endpoint management. Hardware support across desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Leading or mentoring an IT support team.You will also:

Have excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. Be confident managing competing priorities across multiple locations. Enjoy working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, as regular travel between sites is an essential part of the role.What’s on Offer?
