Job description

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design and technical governance of high-security electronic security systems for critical infrastructure.

You will provide technical leadership across bids and project delivery, ensuring solutions are compliant, resilient, commercially viable and aligned with customer security requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work on major nationally significant projects, including within the UK nuclear sector., * Lead and develop a team of design engineers and technical specialists.

  • Oversee the design of integrated CCTV, access control, intruder detection and security management systems.
  • Review and approve technical designs, drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and security requirements.
  • Support bids and tenders through concept designs, technical solutions and customer presentations.
  • Manage technical risk, design change control and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Support commissioning, handover and technical assurance activities.

Requirements

  • Significant experience within the electronic security systems industry.
  • Proven track record designing complex integrated security solutions in regulated or high-security environments, such as nuclear, critical infrastructure, government or defence sectors.
  • Experience leading design teams or acting as a technical authority on major projects.
  • Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, intruder detection and integrated security platforms.
  • Understanding of networked security systems and cyber-security considerations.
  • Proficient with design tools such as AutoCAD; BIM/Revit experience desirable.
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent industry experience in a relevant engineering discipline - Electrical bias.

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to sites across the UK.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance.
