Job description
Winsupply Minneapolis is looking for an experienced HVAC Technical Support & Applications Specialist to support our customers, sales team, and growing HVAC equipment business.
This position is designed for someone with strong HVAC knowledge who enjoys solving problems, helping contractors, and ensuring equipment is selected, installed, and applied correctly. You will serve as a technical resource for residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, working directly with contractors by phone, email, and in person.
You will not spend every day doing the same thing. One day you may help diagnose an equipment issue, and the next you may review a system application, identify replacement equipment, assist with a warranty claim, or train a contractor on a new product.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to HVAC contractors by phone, email, and in person.
- Help diagnose problems involving furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, rooftop units, controls, zoning systems, and related accessories.
- Assist contractors with installation, startup, operation, and application questions.
- Support the sales team with technically complex quotations and customer questions.
- Work with manufacturers and factory representatives to resolve technical issues.
- Manage warranty questions, documentation, parts identification, and claim requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of technical issues and follow up until problems are resolved.
- Conduct product training for customers and Winsupply Minneapolis employees.
- Stay current on new products, refrigerants, controls, codes, manufacturer requirements, and industry changes.
- Help reduce repeat problems by identifying common installation issues and creating useful technical resources.
- Represent Winsupply Minneapolis professionally with customers, manufacturers, and coworkers.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
- Experience diagnosing HVAC equipment and electrical or control-related problems.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, installation manuals, technical specifications, and sequence-of-operation documents.
- Understanding of airflow, refrigeration, combustion, electrical systems, controls, and system application.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Patient and professional when helping customers troubleshoot difficult problems.
- Organized, accurate, and capable of managing several open issues at once.
- Willing to research unfamiliar problems instead of guessing.
- Comfortable communicating with contractors, technicians, salespeople, and manufacturers.
- Able to work independently without constant supervision.
- Dependable, consistently on time, and willing to help wherever needed.
- Focused on finding solutions while protecting the customer, company, and manufacturer., * Five or more years of HVAC service, installation, technical support, or applications experience.
- EPA Section 608 certification.
- NATE certification or equivalent technical training.
- Experience with residential split systems, furnaces, heat pumps, package equipment, and light commercial rooftop units.
- Experience with American Standard or Trane equipment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with R-454B and other A2L refrigerant equipment.
- Experience with warranty processing, replacement equipment selection, and manufacturer technical support.
- Previous experience working for an HVAC contractor, manufacturer, representative, or distributor.
Equivalent hands-on HVAC experience will be considered in place of formal education or certifications.
