Job description
As a Data Engineer at Conclusion Intelligence, you build the foundations that make data-driven solutions possible. You design, develop, and operate scalable data platforms that enable analytics, AI, and software applications to perform reliably and efficiently.
You work in a dynamic, international, and client-facing environment. One day you collaborate closely with Data Scientists and Architects to design a new data pipeline; the next, you help a customer optimize performance, reliability, or data quality in their cloud platform. You understand how data flows through organizations and how ingestion, storage, transformation, governance, and security must work together.
Your focus is on creating robust, maintainable, and future-proof data solutions. You work with batch and streaming data, modern cloud platforms, and evolving architectures such as Lakehouse or event-driven designs. Quality is non-negotiable: you ensure solutions are observable, compliant (e.g. GDPR), cost-aware, and ready to scale.
As you grow, your role expands beyond implementation. You actively advise customers, contribute to architectural decisions, and help strengthen CI’s data engineering practices. You will join a team of experienced, international colleagues who value craftsmanship, collaboration, and clear communication. You report to the Service Line Manager, Decision Intelligence., We are looking for a Data Engineer with a strong technical foundation and a pragmatic, solution-driven mindset. You enjoy building reliable data platforms, working closely with different disciplines, and helping customers turn data into tangible business value.
Requirements
- Have several years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a comparable role within complex environments
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms, primarily on Azure (experience with AWS or GCP is a plus)
- Develop and operate ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, and storage layers such as data lakes, warehouses, or lakehouses
- Work confidently with SQL and Python or Scala, and apply modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g. Databricks, Spark, Data Factory, Airflow, dbt)
-
Embed quality by design: performance, reliability, security, observability, and GDPR-compliant data handling are standard in your work
- Collaborate effectively with Data Scientists, Architects, BI specialists, and business stakeholders, and communicate technical choices clearly
- Make pragmatic engineering decisions, balancing innovation with simplicity and long-term maintainability
- Communicate fluently in English and Dutch
- The ability to identify risks related to performance, security, scalability, and maintainability, and propose solid alternatives
- Hybrid working is part of the role; flexibility to work from the office and at client locations is required, and a valid driver’s license is essential
