Data Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join a well-established retailer operating at scale across multiple markets. You’ll play a key role in shaping a modern data platform, enabling data-driven decision-making, and delivering impactful solutions that support both customer and commercial outcomes., As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions across the business. Responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing robust data pipelines for batch and real-time data processing
• Building and maintaining cloud-based data platforms and data warehouses
• Supporting the delivery of analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives
• Improving data quality, governance, monitoring, and observability across the platform
• Collaborating with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Product teams, and business stakeholders
• Driving best practice in data engineering, architecture, and platform performance
• Contributing to technical strategy and mentoring colleagues within the data team
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and scalable engineering solutions

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer
• Advanced SQL skills and strong capability in Python
• Experience building and maintaining modern cloud data platforms, ideally on Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Expertise in data modelling, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing concepts
• Experience with orchestration and workflow tools such as Airflow or similar technologies
• Knowledge of modern data architecture principles and scalable distributed systems
• Experience working with large, complex datasets in a commercial environment
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
• Passion for data, continuous improvement, and delivering business value

• Salary of €80,000 depending on experience
