Job description
An 11-16 secondary school located in Brighton, East Sussex. The school operates with centralized operational and administrative systems managed in close alignment with senior leadership to maintain structured, highly efficient workflows. The data and administrative support department is a cohesive team that utilizes modern digital tools to streamline processes, automate routine reporting, and keep staff workloads manageable. Clear protocols are established for data entry, statutory returns, and reporting timelines to ensure deadlines are met without unnecessary out-of-hours pressure. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
- MIS Administration: Maintain and manage the school’s MIS database (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom), ensuring system integrity, user permissions, structure setups, and overall data accuracy.
- Academic Reporting & Tracking: Coordinate school-wide assessment entry periods, design custom tracking templates, and produce clear, accessible academic progress reports for staff, governors, and parents.
- Statutory Returns: Lead the preparation and timely submission of all statutory school returns, including the DfE School Census, workforce census, and exam results analysis.
- Timetable & Setup Support: Work alongside senior leadership to support the technical upload, maintenance, and ongoing updates of the whole-school timetable and student options choices.
- Staff Training & Data Literacy: Provide guidance and training to teaching and administrative staff on using the MIS, completing marksheets, and accessing performance data.
Requirements
- Qualifications: A relevant degree or strong technical qualification in data analysis, information systems, computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: Proven track record of managing data systems and analytical reporting, ideally within an educational setting using school MIS platforms (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom).
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and database management, with outstanding attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills when presenting complex data to non-technical staff.
