Entry-Level Telecommunication Technician

• Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas during installation projects
• Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to evaluate network performance, identify issues, and support troubleshooting efforts
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering diagrams to ensure accurate cable routing and system setup
• Support telecommunications outside plant operations by performing cable pulls, trenching assistance, and conduit installations in compliance with safety standards
• Conduct telecommunications testing procedures to verify proper network functionality, including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems
• Follow safety protocols outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) during all outdoor work activities

• Prior outdoor work experience or construction background preferred; must be comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
• Demonstrated ability to operate hand tools, power tools, bucket trucks, and heavy equipment safely and effectively
• Basic understanding of fiber optic systems installation, fiber splicing, and telecommunications cabling techniques
• Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment and troubleshooting procedures for network issues
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately
• Strong technical proficiency in computer networking concepts such as LAN, Ethernet, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and low voltage wiring
• Excellent climbing skills for working on poles or elevated structures; comfortable working at heights using safety harnesses when necessary
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards applicable to outdoor utility work
• Effective communication skills to support technical troubleshooting and collaborate with team members
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating construction or telecom equipment is a plus
