The Office of Legislative Counsel ( OLC) is seeking to hire a student assistant to work u nder the close supervision of the Application Security Section lead within the Cyber Security, Network, and Environmental Division of the Legislative Technology Branch, the student assistant will assist with the development and maintenance of documentation related to Enterprise Applications security, security awareness training, and other related tasks within the Application Security section., F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor., Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer)., * Assist with development and maintenance of enterprise applications catalog.
- Collect and document application meta data from development teams within the organization.
- Assist with developing, reviewing, testing, and maintaining security awareness training, documentation, and other materials supporting the Security Awareness Training Program.
- Assist with software/application testing.Review security training content for consistency.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
Consistent with work in an office environment, frequent sitting, keyboarding, and use of mouse.
Requirements
Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list. Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.
Majors/Fields of Study
Communication Studies, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, English, or Law., * Dependable and eager to learn.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail.
- Proficient in using Windows or macOS computers, modern web browsers, email applications, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Outlook.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form.Ability to take instructions, prioritize and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and tools.
- Exceptional Customer Service, Analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to research, document and convey information to others.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Benefits & conditions
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause., $17.74 - $23.91 per hour., Work is performed in a hybrid environment. Students may be required to work on-site for one or more days of the week. A cubicle with sitting arrangement and a desktop will be provided when on-site. Remote access to the desktop will be provided to accommodate remote work. Business casual dress attire is required when going into the office. On-site work will be performed at 1100 J street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.

The office also provides computer services, data networking, and related customer services to the Legislature., UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.
