Job description
The Social Media Specialist position is responsible for the architectural design and development of Web Design and Social Media, the maintenance of existing systems, and all related support activities or software. This includes all aspects and steps required for software development and maintenance.
Requirements
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts across multiple platforms.
- Knowledge of social media engagement strategies and digital communication best practices.
- Ability to develop public messaging related to behavioral health, developmental services, and community outreach.
- Understanding of public sector communications and reputation management.
Content Creation and Multimedia
- Experience creating graphics, digital media, and visual content using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or similar design software.
- Knowledge of multimedia production including short-form video, graphics, and digital storytelling.
- Ability to design content optimized for different social media platforms.
Technical and Web Knowledge
- Knowledge of website and web content management platforms such as SharePoint or similar content management systems.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, web publishing, and digital accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting tools.
Communication and Organizational Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear public messaging.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across multiple DBHDS facilities and programs.
- Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when communicating with the public on sensitive behavioral health topics.
Professional Skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in public communications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to emerging communication needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to government communication standards and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree related to Information Technology, Computer Science or other related field is preferred.
- Related educational training and/or experience may substitute for college degree.
Additional Considerations
- A minimum of two to four years of work related skill, knowledge, or experience.
