Job description
As the HRIS Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing human resources information systems to ensure accurate data management, reporting, and compliance. You will be collaborating across departments, troubleshooting system issues efficiently, and proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement., * Diagnose recurring HRIS, timekeeping, and pay-calculation issues to their underlying root cause - data, configuration, integration, or process - rather than applying repeat workarounds.
- Design and implement durable, documented solutions and preventive controls; measure whether fixes actually eliminated the problem.
- Own the intake, triage, escalation, and resolution framework for HRIS cases, including managing complex cases with UKG support, consultants, and integration vendors through to closure.
-
Lead the development, implementation, testing, and adoption of HRIS upgrades and new module rollouts.
- Ensure seamless, monitored integrations across UKG Pro, Workforce Management (WFM/Dimensions), benefits administration, ATS, LMS, and e-signature platforms.
- Build, maintain, audit, and troubleshoot all file feeds and interfaces (EDI, SFTP, API), resolving failures quickly and instrumenting them to surface issues before they impact pay or benefits.
-
Deploy data uploads and imports with pre- and post-load audits to guarantee accuracy.
- Develop and maintain custom HR reports, dashboards, and recurring audit processes that give leadership reliable, decision-ready data.
- Configure and audit system rules to reflect current multi-jurisdiction compliance requirements (e.g., tip-credit/tipped-wage rules, paid-sick-leave accruals, minimum-wage thresholds across IL, NY, and other markets).
-
Audit and update PTO/accrual policy configuration in WFM to reflect current standards, including tenure tiers, carryover, and balance accuracy.
- Partner with payroll to ensure accuracy in pay-file configuration, reporting, deductions, and data imports across mixed pay cadences.
-
Validate that system configuration correctly drives earnings, deductions, and accruals before each cycle.
- Hold accountability for HRIS department performance - system reliability, data accuracy, case-resolution quality, and project delivery against goals.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to HRIS team members; develop their technical skills, set priorities, and manage day-to-day workload.
- Oversee project completion end to end - scope, timelines, testing, adoption, and post-implementation validation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HRIS inquiries, providing support, documentation, and training that raises the whole HR team’s system fluency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive HR and/or Payroll experience.
- 5+ years of direct HRIS configuration and/or implementation ownership, ideally in a lead or managerial capacity.
- Hands-on UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management experience, including configuration, integrations, and reporting - not solely end-user administration.
- Demonstrated, structured troubleshooting methodology: the ability to trace data flows across systems and isolate root cause rather than treat symptoms.
- Proven experience implementing and integrating HR systems (timekeeping, scheduling, ATS, LMS, HRIS) that build company-wide efficiencies.
- Proven ability to manage projects and mentor or oversee team members.
- Hospitality or multi-unit, multi-state operations experience.
- Experience configuring tipped-wage, tip-credit, and jurisdiction-specific accrual/sick-leave rules.
- Familiarity with benefits EDI feeds, ATS integrations, WOTC, and e-signature/document-management workflows.
- Experience with HR reporting/BI tools and building recurring audits.
