Systems Analyst 3 //Oracle to AWS Migration Engineer

Understands business objectives and problems, identifies alternative solutions, and performs studies and cost/benefit analysis of alternatives.

• Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing computer systems.

• Confers with personnel of organizational units to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and determine specific input and output requirements (data input forms, data summarization methods, and report formats).

• Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and the steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

• Reviews computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine whether requested programs or program changes are feasible within the existing system.

• Hands-on experience migrating Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS DMS, supporting full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures.

Strong expertise in AWS infrastructure and networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, VPNs, Direct Connect), core cloud-native services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).

• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, migration planning, cutover and rollback strategies, automation using Python/Bash/PowerShell, and monitoring via CloudWatch and CloudTrail.

• Strong communication skills with proven experience modernizing legacy on-premises systems in hybrid cloud environments.

• Develops data migration and cutover plans that minimize downtime and include clear rollback strategies.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in IT supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions.

• 8+ years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS.

• 8+ years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.

• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure and networking (VPC, subnets, security groups, routing).

• 8+ years of experience with core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform).

• 8+ years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects.

• 8+ years of experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• 8+ years of experience configuring and managing cloud network security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups.

• 8+ years of experience with monitoring and logging tools (AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail).

• 8+ years of experience developing data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and minimizing downtime.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documenting technical designs and migration runbooks.

• Experience with hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization.

Good to Have:

• AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty.

• Experience working in public sector or state government environments.
