Job description

Our client, a leading higher education institution in North Wales, is looking to recruit an experienced Website Manager to take ownership of its primary website and digital presence. Role is currently signed off until December 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a digital professional with expertise in website management, user experience, SEO and analytics to play a key role in enhancing the online journey for thousands of prospective students.

The Role

As Website Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day management and ongoing development of the organisation’s website. You’ll ensure the site delivers an exceptional user experience while driving engagement and conversion through data-led decision making.

Working with stakeholders across the organisation, you’ll oversee website content, implement best practice in accessibility and SEO, manage digital standards and use web analytics to continuously improve performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the organisation’s website, overseeing development, enhancements and content updates.
  • Drive improvements to user experience (UX), conversion rates and customer journeys.
  • Build and optimise landing pages to support digital marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure the website complies with WCAG accessibility standards, SEO best practice and Welsh Language Standards.
  • Act as the lead administrator for the Content Management System (CMS), supporting users across the organisation.
  • Review and approve website content to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality.
  • Analyse website performance using tools such as Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Looker Studio and CrazyEgg or Hotjar, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Develop documentation, web standards and processes to support website governance.
  • Deliver training and ongoing support to colleagues using the CMS.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience managing and developing large, complex websites.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Strong knowledge of SEO, technical SEO, UX/UI and Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO).
  • Experience creating and optimising landing pages and conducting A/B testing.
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Looker Studio and user behaviour analytics tools such as CrazyEgg or Hotjar.
  • A thorough understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and delivering accessible digital content.
  • Experience managing bilingual websites and knowledge of Welsh Language Standards.
  • Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills.
  • Excellent project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to train and support colleagues while maintaining high digital standards.

Desirable:

  • Experience using the TerminalFour CMS.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Welsh.
  • Experience presenting website performance and insights to senior stakeholders.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where you’ll have the autonomy to shape and develop a high-profile digital platform. If you’re passionate about delivering outstanding digital experiences, using data to drive improvement and leading website best practice, we’d love to hear from you.
