Job description

Under the direction of the IT Operations Manager, this position Performs highly complex (senior-level) systems administration work. Responsible for mid-level Systems Administrator maintaining, securing and optimizing the agency’s Windows based infrastructure, data platforms and M365 services. This role manages Windows Servers, databases environments including SQL & Oracle, Power BI administration, Data Gateway services, Enterprise file systems, NAS storage platforms and implementing data security controls. This position supports data governance & compliance policies in Purview & Power Platform, Data warehousing initiatives & EFS migrations. The systems administrator works closely with business, data and security teams. Must ensure high availability, streamline enterprise workflows, and maintain rigorous documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the agency. Assists in the preparation of recommendations, project plans, procedural and other technical documents for management. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.

Experience :

Five years of hands-on experience managing Windows Server infrastructure or administering Microsoft 365 suites and enterprise tools.

Licensure :

Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid state driver’s license., One additional year of the required full-time experience may substitute for 30 semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 30 semester hours., Proven track record with 2 years of experience deploying enterprise-level Microsoft 365 tenants and configuring core enterprise tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Knowledge of Windows server management and upgrade best Practices.

Knowledge of the ServiceNow platform to work on tickets preferred.

Knowledge of ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Service Catalog)

Knowledge of SQL server upgrades and administration

Knowledge of Power BI administration, tenant management, data gateways management.

Knowledge of Power Platform administration specific to environments and Dataverse security.

Knowledge of update sets, application scopes, and instance management

Knowledge of M365 Cloud services.

Knowledge of supporting Microsoft apps like Power apps, Power Automate.

Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

Skill in User, group, and role management (ACLs, access control)

Skill in Instance configuration and system properties

Skill in Form design, list layouts, and UI customization

Skill in Service Catalog creation (catalog items, record producers, variables)

Skill in SLA configuration and management

Skill in Knowledge base management

Skill in Scheduled jobs and data imports (Import Sets, Transform Maps)

Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts.

Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve complex technical issues and mitigate risk.

Ability to make sound and timely decisions.

Ability to communicate complex technical issues to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program., Required to respond to emergencies and on-call situations.

Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check to maintain employment.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and maintain that authorization throughout employment.

May be required to operate a state vehicle.

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.

Benefits & conditions

Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; alternate schedule may be available.

Required to work overtime as necessary.
