Job description

A leading computer hardware manufacturer is seeking a Hardware Engineer to support the testing, troubleshooting, and production readiness of servers, networking equipment, and personal computing devices. This position is part of the Engineering Services team and works across engineering, operations, and production to provide technical expertise in electronics, operational software, and hardware systems integration.

The Hardware Engineer will take ownership of test environments, independently execute verification and scale-testing procedures, investigate hardware failures, and provide hands-on support during new product introduction and production ramp-up. This position offers the opportunity to work with complex computing systems while contributing directly to product reliability, manufacturability, and quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot test stations used for hardware product validation.
  • Define the hardware, software, and procedures required to test products under real-world operating conditions.
  • Execute and refine verification, functionality, performance, and scale-testing procedures.
  • Investigate hardware failures during development and production, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support new product introduction and the transfer of products from research and development into manufacturing.
  • Translate engineering specifications into operational procedures and provide technical support during pilot builds and production ramp-up.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for hardware issues involving servers, network switches, power systems, boards, and integrated computing systems.
  • Produce detailed reports documenting test results, debug findings, failure analyses, corrective actions, and engineering support activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Professional, internship, co-op, or project experience involving hardware development, validation, integration, testing, or manufacturing support.
  • Working knowledge of server systems, computer hardware components, and hardware diagnostic procedures.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and interfaces such as PCIe, USB, and system buses.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, soldering tools, rework equipment, or comparable test and measurement equipment.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting, failure-analysis, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned testing and debugging activities while collaborating with engineering, production, and operations teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document procedures, test results, and technical findings.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting server, networking, data-center, or computer hardware products.
  • Familiarity with Redfish, IPMI, BIOS, BMC, POST, or related system-management and diagnostic technologies.
  • Experience supporting NPI, pilot builds, product transfer, or manufacturing ramp-up.
  • Experience with board-level troubleshooting, soldering, component replacement, or hardware rework.
