Job description

DecisionPoint seeks Cloud Network Engineers to support the implementation, maintenance, and security of IL5 cloud networking within AWS GovCloud for a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. These roles focus on routing, DNS, VPN/Direct Connect configurations, WAF management, load balancers, IAM policies tied to network controls, and ongoing Zero Trust network enforcement.

Cloud Network Engineers work closely with senior cloud network architects, platform engineers, cybersecurity teams, and application teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and high-performance network connectivity across enterprise systems.

These positions are fully remote., The Cloud Network Engineer will: Implement and maintain cloud network configurations including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, and segmentation.

  • Configure and maintain DNS (Route 53), domain routing rules, and delegation patterns.
  • Support setup and maintenance of VPN tunnels, Direct Connect links, and cross-environment connectivity.
  • Deploy and maintain WAF configurations, load balancers, and cloud firewall rules.
  • Apply IAM policies tied to network access controls and enforcement requirements.
  • Implement Zero Trust network enforcement for east-west and north-south traffic flows.
  • Perform troubleshooting of network connectivity, DNS failures, routing issues, and traffic flow anomalies.
  • Assist in network performance tuning, latency analysis, and optimization.
  • Support monitoring, alerting, packet inspection, and network analytics solutions.
  • Maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, and baseline records.
  • Assist with boundary defense updates and compliance with RMF and STIGs.
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviews for cloud network changes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field., * Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering, cloud networking, or enterprise network operations.

  • Experience implementing routing, VPN/Direct Connect, DNS, and load balancing in cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting secure federal or DoD network environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud or hybrid-cloud network issues.

Technical Knowledge (Required)

  • Knowledge of AWS GovCloud networking including VPCs, NACLs, security groups, routing, and Route 53.
  • Experience with VPNs, Direct Connect, WAF, load balancers, and network security tooling.
  • Understanding of IAM policies tied to network enforcement and Zero Trust principles.
  • Familiarity with boundary security controls and RMF-compliant architectures.
  • Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
  • Experience with network automation tooling or IaC-based network configuration.
  • Familiarity with packet analysis tools and monitoring platforms.
  • Experience supporting microservices or container-based network architectures.

Certifications

Required:

CCNA or CCNP

CompTIA Security+

Preferred:

AWS Networking Specialty

ITIL v4 Foundation, * Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex network issues.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams.
  • High attention to detail and thorough documentation habits.
  • Ability to implement secure, reliable network configurations at enterprise scale.
  • Ability to manage change and prioritize tasks in a dynamic mission environment.
