Job description
This is a true generalist role for someone who thrives on variety. One day you’re debugging our internal scheduling tool, the next you’re troubleshooting a network issue at a branch office, and the next you’re tightening up our security posture. You’ll be the go-to IT resource for the whole company - which means your technical skills matter as much as your ability to explain things clearly to non-technical teammates.
What You’ll Do
Software Development & Application Support
- Build, maintain, and improve internal tools (scheduling, dispatch, CRM, customer portals)
- Troubleshoot bugs and performance issues
- Partner with vendors and third-party software providers
- Turn staff requests into practical technical solutions
IT & Network Support
- Maintain networks, servers, and infrastructure across office and field locations
- Set up and support workstations, mobile devices, and field tech equipment
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access
- Be the first point of contact for day-to-day help desk needs
Cybersecurity
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and suspicious activity
- Maintain firewalls, endpoint protection, backups, and patching
- Support data protection and regulatory compliance efforts
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans
General IT Ownership
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and systems as we grow
- Manage relationships with IT vendors, ISPs, and service providers
- Document systems and processes for consistency
- Train staff on tools and systems
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on IT experience spanning development, systems administration, and security
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, Python, and HTML
- Experience with business networks (routers, switches, VPNs, Wi-Fi) and Windows/Mac environments
- Solid grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals (endpoint protection, backups, patching, phishing prevention)
- Strong troubleshooting instincts and comfort being the “first call” when something breaks
- Excellent communication skills - you can explain tech issues in plain English
- A self-starter mentality; comfortable owning IT solo or with a small team
Nice to Have
- Experience in field-service or home-services businesses
- Familiarity with home-services CRM/dispatch software (e.g., ServiceTitan)
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, or similar certifications
