Job description
Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician in Ashburn, VA. The Data Center Technician will support large-scale infrastructure projects in the Sterling and Ashburn, VA area, focusing on the installation and maintenance of physical data center components. Ideal candidates range from entry-level technicians to experienced leads capable of executing complex cabling and hardware deployments to meet critical project timelines., * Support the installation, routing, and securing of structured cabling including fiber and copper within a hyperscale data center environment.
- Execute hardware installation tasks, including device labeling, power connectivity, and network cable connectivity.
- Perform moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for server racks and networking equipment according to design schematics.
- Assist with cable terminations, testing, and certification to ensure high-performance connectivity.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work logs, asset management, and infrastructure changes.
- Follow site-specific security protocols, badging requirements, and data protection procedures.
- Provide smart-hands assistance for hardware support work orders and troubleshooting.
- Ensure a safe and clean operating environment by adhering to OSHA standards and data center best practices.
- Coordinate with project leads to ensure deployment goals are met for the AS01 and ASH1 DC2 projects.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Telecommunications blueprint interpretation?, * 0-10 years of experience in data center infrastructure, ranging from Tech 1 (entry) to Tech 2+ (experienced) levels.
- Proficiency in English communication to coordinate effectively with on-site teams.
- Basic understanding of data center power distribution and structured cabling standards.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans, cable schedules, and technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with server and network hardware components and support tools.
- Available for project kick-off in the Sterling/Ashburn area starting June 8th.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and stretch for prolonged periods.
- Ability to see and distinguish different colors for cable identification.
- Must be able to work in varying temperatures typical of data center environments.
- Manual dexterity to use hand tools and handle small hardware components.
