Job description

  • Research, develop, test, and modify prototypes and fan models according to customer order requirements with guidance from others.
  • Assist in the development of models and detail drawings of fans.
  • Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Collaborate with others to help develop test plans.
  • Design electrical control panels and generate electrical diagrams with full Build of Material (BOM).
  • Make recommendations for the selection of fans, coils, heaters and other AMU components.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using computer aided design tools (CAD).
  • Capture design intent with spreadsheets, drawing markups, and computer aided design (CAD) tools as needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting engineering design and test problems.
  • Research new technology to be used in the development of new products.
  • May perform service work and provide customer design support as required.
  • Act, live, and behave by TCF Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction with a high level of accuracy.
  • A basic understanding of design tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year of relevant design or test engineering experience, preferably in the air moving industry.
  • Knowledge of the design and manufacturing of sheet metal parts is highly preferred.
  • Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and modal analysis a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach.
  • Ability to work sitting at a computer.
  • Ability to work with personnel on shop floor.
