Job description

  • Perform high-density fiber patching from patch panel to patch panel and patch panel to device.
  • Execute device-to-device connectivity tasks in accordance with project specifications.
  • Support the installation and management of large-scale bundled fiber infrastructure.
  • Ensure all cabling and hardware components are properly labeled and documented.
  • Collaborate with project leads to meet strict deployment timelines and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the data center aisles and racks.
  • Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues as they arise during the patching process.
  • Comply with all site-specific safety protocols and data center operational procedures.

This Level 3 Data Center Technician role focuses on a large-scale fiber infrastructure project in Charleston, SC, specializing in high-density patching and cabling. The ideal candidate will possess advanced fiber optic technical skills and the ability to maintain high productivity during evening or overnight shifts., * Minimum of Level 3 experience in data center infrastructure or fiber optic installation.

  • Strong technical proficiency in fiber optic cabling and patching procedures.
  • Ability to commit to assigned shifts of either 3pm - 11pm or 11pm - 7am.
  • Must provide own over-the-ankle, ESD-rated composite toe safety boots.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage complex patching schedules.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on precision and technical accuracy.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb and work safely from ladders.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small fiber optic components and precision connectors.
  • Ability to see and distinguish color-coded fibers and labels.
  • Comfortable working in confined or restricted spaces for cabling tasks.
