Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (Columbus, OH) in Columbus, OH. The Data Center Technician will support a large-scale fiber project, focusing on the installation and management of patches and bundled fiber. The ideal candidate is a Level 3 technician with advanced fiber optic skills, capable of executing complex patching tasks across various hardware and panels in a high-demand environment., * Execute patching tasks from patch panel to patch panel, patch panel to device, and device to device.

  • Support large-scale fiber projects involving bundled fiber and high-density cable management.
  • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for fiber infrastructure within the data center.
  • Ensure all cabling and patching conform to project blueprints and industry standards.
  • Maintain high levels of organization while managing complex cable routing and labeling.
  • Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues and signal loss during the installation process.
  • Work efficiently across assigned shifts, including 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all site-specific safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with project leads to ensure timely completion of installation milestones.
  • Provide regular status updates on patching progress and potential infrastructure roadblocks.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Safety equipment?, * Experience as a Level 3 Data Center Technician or in a similar fiber-intensive role.

  • Demonstrated expertise in fiber optic cabling, including patching and bundled fiber management.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage high-volume technical tasks.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including second and third shift rotations.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting data center floor plans and cable schedules.
  • Must provide own over-the-ankle, ESD-rated composite toe safety boots.
  • Ability to complete a detailed Installation Technician Questionnaire as part of the application process.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to climb ladders frequently during the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and reach equipment at various heights.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver fiber cabling and related installation materials.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling small fiber components and precise labeling.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including ESD-rated footwear.
