Data Scientist - Strategic Network Design

As a Data Scientist on our Strategic Network Design team, you’ll help shape the future of Best Buy’s supply chain. Using data science, analytics, and modeling, you’ll uncover insights that influence major decisions about inventory, transportation, fulfillment, and network growth. You’ll work with cross-functional partners to solve complex business challenges and turn data into actionable recommendations that improve cost, speed, capacity, and customer experience.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What you’ll do Analyze large, complex datasets to support supply chain planning and network design decisionsBuild and maintain analytical models, forecasts, and scenario-planning inputsIdentify opportunities to improve cost efficiency, capacity utilization, and service performanceDevelop scalable data pipelines that improve the quality and consistency of network modelingPartner with analysts, modelers, and business teams to translate operational needs into data-driven solutionsPresent insights, recommendations, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, economics or supply chain2 years of experience in data science, analytics, operations research, or a related fieldExperience using SQL, Python, Excel or similar tools to analyze large datasetsExperience building analytical models or decision-support solutionsStrong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred qualifications Master’s degree in a STEM-related fieldExperience in supply chain, transportation, inventory, fulfillment, or network analyticsExperience with forecasting, optimization, simulation, or scenario modelingFamiliarity with Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn or PySparkExperience with Power BI, Tableau or similar visualization tools What’s in it for you
