Job description
Day to Day:
- Responsible for printed circuit board (PCB) designs from conception to manufacturing beginning on day one
- Responsible for library part creation, schematic capture, component placement, routing, and gerber / ODB++ files
- Responsible for documentation using Altium Designer and other tool sets.
- Create designs to include PCBs as well as flex and rigid-flex assemblies
- Responsible for daily interface with electrical, mechanical and producibility engineering disciplines to ensure the overall design requirements are captured and accomplished
- Responsible for providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
- Understanding wide applications of technical theories and concepts in the field of PCB design and manufacturing
- Capture existing schematics (currently in tif files), PCB board layout, reverse-engineering documentation (hardware only will be provided)
Requirements
MUST HAVES:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or mathematics (STEM) and five (5) years of relevant experience OR, an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum three (3) years’ experience
- Experience with Altium Designer
- Experience designing analog, digital, or mixed technology PCBs
- Experience to include at least three (3) of the following:
- Placement
- Routing
- Auto-router
- Constraint Manager
- Use of Altium Designer to create PCB and harness drawings
Board Experience & layers:
- Simple to moderately complex (1 to 14 layer). Basic knowledge of IPC-2221/IPC-2222
- Experience designing at the circuit card stack level to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.
- Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design for manufacturing, and/or design margin analysis
- Experience with a formal design process for circuit card assemblies.
- Proven ability to debug and resolve complex hardware issues during integration and qualification testing.
- Experience with performing circuit card assembly-level architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades.
- Experience documenting technical topics and presenting to customers and senior leadership.
- Three-phase power systems knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts and/or small teams.
- Experience with technical drawing packages for circuit assemblies.
- Experience with tests and troubleshooting of circuit card assemblies in a lab or production environment.
- Knowledge of a formal design process for circuit card assemblies.
- Experience maturing a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level to development of a complete, verified hardware design.
- Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) stack up definition.
- Board layout experience of single and multi-lamination boards
- Experience in layout tools such as Siemens Xpedition Enterprise, Altium, EAGLE, Orcad, Allegro or alike
- Familiarity with IPC 2221/IPC 2222, IPC 6012 & IPC 6013.
- Working designs include full designs, re-spins, drawing updates, change notices, copper changes, and process improvement projects within and outside own discipline
- Working knowledge of Analog, Digital including DDR, Power, and mixed technology, including multi-layer designs with High Density Interconnect (HDI) technology
- Working knowledge of military and commercial design standards, GD&T techniques, and overall producibility considerations related to electronic packaging
