Supervisory Market Data Analyst (Associate Director)

The Division of Data was established in October 2020. Our team is committed to empowering the CFTC to make data-driven decisions by harnessing data to develop and deploy sophisticated enterprise analytics and AI capabilities, modernize and streamline data analytics tools and technologies, improve data standardization and compliance, and promote a data-informed workforce that enhances mission and operational performance., If selected for this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Market Data Analyst (Associate Director). As a recognized expert, you will:

• Provide management with authoritative input on potential changes to reporting regulations and new approaches for enhancing transparency for market participants. When appropriate, you will present to senior staff and the Commission on topics related to data submitted to the agency.
• Provide support to other divisions and industry when questions arise regarding submitted data or reporting regulations. You will conduct additional data analysis and facilitate corrections when anomalies are detected.
• Provide expert testimony for trials and administrative hearings involving alleged reporting violations and explain the Commission’s data collection program in support of enforcement activities. You may also provide expert analysis and testimony for investigations into price manipulation, violations of speculative position limits, and other complex matters requiring economic analysis and deep knowledge of the markets regulated by the CFTC.
• Plan and direct special projects related to data quality checks and examinations. These projects may be initiated in response to requests from other divisions and are intended to improve data quality and/or strengthen work processes.
• Lead data-driven analysis to improve the compliance, quality, and completeness of data collected.
• Conduct process analysis to automate and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of market data collection operations.
• Provide subject matter expertise regarding the daily intake of derivatives and swaps data into CFTC systems.
• Maintain awareness of potential changes to industry reporting and coordinate with other divisions in DOD to update tools and processes to support those changes.
• Perform a range of administrative and managerial duties for Branch operations.
• Represent the Commission in meetings with officials from the financial industry and with public visitors from national and international associations and foreign governments., As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
