Job description

The Senior Systems Engineer is a critical part of the Firm’s IT Department, supporting the Firm’s technology infrastructure with deep expertise in networking and advanced Windows Server management. In this role, you will architect and maintain critical infrastructure across both networking and server environments, with responsibilities extending to certificate management and disaster recovery. You will collaborate with administrative teams and attorneys to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability across all IT services, providing high-level technical leadership on complex infrastructure projects., * Deploy, manage, and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware, VxRail, and NAS for high-performance computing and storage.

  • Design, implement, and manage Layer 2/Layer 3 network infrastructures, including advanced switching, routing, and inter-VLAN routing.
  • Configure and maintain routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and static routes to ensure robust network performance and high availability.
  • Manage network VLANs, spanning tree protocols, and link aggregation (LACP/EtherChannel) to optimize redundancy and throughput.
  • Administer and secure networks with firewall policies, NAT rules, and VPN management on platforms like Palo Alto and Meraki.
  • Lead SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management, ensuring proper issuance, renewal, and adherence to security best practices, including PKI/CA administration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex connectivity and performance issues across WAN/LAN, fiber optics, and network security layers.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement network segmentation, address vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with security policies.

  • Oversee Windows Server environments (2012-2019), focusing on high availability, performance, and fault-tolerant architectures.
  • Administer Active Directory domains, including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and organizational unit (OU) management.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, printers, phones, internet, and intranet.
  • Ensure reliable Domain Controller operation and replication across multiple sites.
  • Manage Windows Server clustering technologies for both file and SQL server clusters, ensuring critical services remain available.
  • Administer Hybrid Exchange environments, including mail flow, security policies, and mailbox management.
  • Implement and manage tools for patch management, ensuring security and system compliance.
  • Lead backup and disaster recovery strategies using Veeam, ensuring all critical data is secured and recoverable.
  • Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.

Requirements

Do you have experience in UEM?, * Scripting and automation knowledge with PowerShell, Python, or SQL required.

  • Experience with MDM and application deployment tools such as MS Intune, PDQ or Kaseya required.
  • Experience with legal and document management systems like iManage, Relativity, or Aderant preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCIE, or CISSP preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a systems administrator/engineer.
