Job description

Provides support in the design and administration of compensation practices, policies, and programs including data preparation and analysis. Guides and resolves issues for HR staff and agency administrators related to compensation philosophy, programs, and practices., * Participates in the evaluation of County compensation programs ensuring programs are effective, equitable and consistently utilized across the organization.

  • Participates in compensation projects. Meets established project objectives and plans, seeking input from all relevant sources. Communicates project information and status updates to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Prepares analytics and modeling reports. Collects and analyzes data. Makes recommendations concerning compensation programs and business processes. Analyzes potential cost for current and proposed modifications to compensation programs.
  • Manages current and potential employees’ market data in spreadsheets and databases. Generates and interprets compensation-related reports from HR systems and compensation management systems.
  • Conducts market pricing activities, including analysis of external market pay data and analysis of internal equity.
  • Researches and reports on pay market and compensation trends. Determines appropriate job classification, grade allocation, and FLSA exemption designation.
  • Partners in job evaluation activities.
  • Provides analysis and guidance to HR Business Partners in compensation matters and salary recommendations. Develops and facilitates compensation-related presentations, meetings, and training programs. Conducts compensation-related training for HR staff and customers.
  • Participates in data collection and analysis of external market factors to inform stakeholders during the annual budget process.
  • Reviews, evaluates, interprets, and ensures compensation programs comply with laws, rules, and policies/procedures. Updates, documents, and trains employees on HR policies and procedures related to compensation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Finance, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, or other closely related fields; plus, four (4) years of HR-related experience, of which one (1) year must be in the analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Education may not be substituted for the required one (1) year of specific experience.

PeopleSoft HCM experience is preferred. Payfactors or other compensation management system experience is preferred., * Human resource management practices and procedures

  • Compensation analysis and evaluation
  • Federal and state laws/rules concerning human resources management
  • Principles and practices of compensation administration
  • Technology, software, and systems used for statistical analysis (descriptive/inferential) and production of customized reports
  • Advanced Microsoft Office application skills with the ability to quickly create and modify complex reports, spreadsheets, and databases
