- Performing roadway design from feasibility studies through final design
- Developing plans, specifications, and estimates for a wide range of transportation improvement projects
- Producing roadway alignments, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and 3D models
- Preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and design reports
- Developing and reviewing plan sets and associated design documents
- Utilizing MicroStation and InRoads/ OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D for design, modeling and plans production
- Participating in design meetings and coordinating with project team members
- Serving as roadway task or project lead, as needed.
- Growing technical and leadership skills with the opportunity to advance into a Project Manager role
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Mead & Hunt is currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Transportation team as an Experienced Roadway Engineer in Columbia, MD; Herndon VA; Washington, DC., A valid driver’s license and some travel will be required.
The successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 4 years of relevant roadway design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Maryland PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
- MicroStation and Bentley InRoads/ OpenRoads Designer (ORD)

Experience with technical aspects of Roadway Design

Experience with MDOT policies and procedures
- MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project)
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

Salary Range: $91,000-$120,000 (annual) - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
