Senior Engineer | Wastewater Infrastructure Project Management | Department of Transportation and Infrastructure

• Perform project management work by managing, coordinating, and directing large, complex, multi-disciplinary capital improvement projects including through project initiation, development, plan production/execution, and closing/maintenance and project coordination with city departments, elected officials, affected community and business organizations, and other internal/external stakeholders.
• Engage and collaborate with other city agencies, outside governmental municipalities and regional partners, business and/or community groups, the public, and other stakeholders, as needed.
• Coordinate alignment with internal DOTI departments and other city agencies, including DOTI Right-of-Way Services (ROWS), DOTI Wastewater Operations, Denver Parks and Recreation, and Community Planning and Development (CPD). Partner with agencies that may include Mile High Flood District (MHFD), Metro Water Recovery, Denver Water, and other governmental entities.
• Provide technical input and guidance to support other internal City projects while leveraging and advocating best practices to further enhance Denver’s sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems.
• Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on deliverables, as well as perform reviews of work performed by others to ensure accuracy and completeness, standard of care, and compliance with design criteria and standard practices.
• Engage and collaborate with other city agencies, outside governmental municipalities and regional partners, business and/or community groups, the public, and other stakeholders, as needed
• Coordinate alignment with internal DOTI departments and other city agencies, including DOTI Right-of-Way Services (ROWS), DOTI Wastewater Operations, Denver Parks and Recreation, and Community Planning and Development (CPD). Partner with agencies that may include Mile High Flood District, Metro Water Recovery, Denver Water, and other governmental entities.
• Support planning efforts that may include storm, sanitary, and green infrastructure projects.
• Serve as a technical and/or subject matter expert and provide training and mentoring to other staff members in the areas of project development, project design, project specification preparation, project management, contract management, quality control, and/or work program implementation.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned.

• 7 to 15 years of progressive experience in city-wide and regional storm and sanitary design efforts
• Background and experience in the planning and design of storm and sanitary conveyance projects
• Experience with highly complex, multi-disciplinary projects that include additional components such as roadway improvements, signal reconstruction, and bike lanes
• Strong communication, collaboration skills and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders and the public through community engagement
• Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
• Skilled in Civil Civil 3D, ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap desktop and online products
• Skilled in H&H modeling software and techniques in CUHP/SWMM and EPA SWMM. Experience in 1D-2D integrated modeling such as FLO-2D, PC SWMM, and InfoWorks ICM is a plus.
• Passion for water resources, and environmental stewardship, and public service, * Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional engineering work experience after obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license. (Some positions may require experience in a specific engineering area)
• Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
• License/Certifications:
• Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.
• Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application. Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
