Job description
Rational Enterprise is hiring a QA Engineer to join the engineering team behind Rational Governance (RG), our enterprise information governance platform. RG helps organizations understand and manage unstructured data in place and in real-time - powering legal holds, preservations, retention policies, and broader risk and cost reduction across enterprise data.
As a QA Engineer on this team, you’ll be responsible for validating that RG accurately discovers, ingests, and surfaces content from a wide range of enterprise data sources and that the policies built on top of that data behave as expected. This role blends hands-on manual testing with automation, and requires someone comfortable working across multiple connected systems, not just a single application.
What You’ll Do
- Create and manage test data across mock enterprise environments, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange, and Confluence
- Verify that content generated in these source systems is correctly captured, indexed, and searchable within the RG Web UI
- Design and execute test plans covering document discovery, metadata capture, and policy enforcement workflows
- Test legal hold workflows and custodian survey functionality to ensure accuracy and compliance readiness
- Log, triage, and track defects using GitHub Issues, providing clear repro steps and context for engineering
- Build and maintain automated test coverage for both UI and backend workflows
- Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to understand feature requirements and edge cases
- Participate in release testing cycles and help maintain overall product quality as new features ship
Requirements
- Proven QA experience, including manual testing, defect tracking/ticketing, and working with issue trackers (GitHub Issues or similar)
- Experience with test automation (tooling flexible - e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
- Comfort working with and configuring multiple enterprise systems/environments for testing purposes (M365, SharePoint, Exchange, Confluence, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to trace data end-to-end across systems
- Clear written communication for bug reports, test plans, and cross-team collaboration
- Bonus: familiarity with document/data governance, compliance, or e-discovery concepts
Nice to Have
- Experience testing SaaS platforms with multi-source data ingestion
- Familiarity with API testing tools (Postman, etc.)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration
- Familiarity with legal hold or litigation readiness processes
