Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Network Engineer to join our innovative IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. Your expertise will ensure seamless connectivity, security, and performance of our IT infrastructure, supporting the organization’s digital transformation initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, to deliver scalable and reliable network solutions., Network Engineer will perform upgrade/refresh at three data centers: mainly in the client site in Columbus, Ohio; Disaster Recovery site in Columbus; and Disaster Recovery site in Cleveland, Ohio. There may be some required for this position.

There are two main initiatives:

  • Data Center upgrade/refresh of Cisco hardware layer from fabric to ACI. Cisco ACI fabric consists of discrete components connected in a spine and leaf switch topology that is provisioned and managed as a single entity
  • Data Center upgrade of connectivity from 10GB to 40GB.

Main activities

  • Rack - Stack of hardware
  • Cabling - network and power
  • Configuration of Cisco Routers/Switches
  • Troubleshooting of network resources and routes
  • Create/Update documentation regarding network infrastructure detail.

Skills

  • BGP routing. BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) is the routing protocol that powers the internet. It acts as a digital postal service by determining the most efficient path for data to travel between different large-scale networks-known as Autonomous Systems (AS)-across the globe
  • OSPF routing. OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) is a dynamic routing protocol. It functions like a highly efficient GPS for data by maintaining a constant map of network paths and calculating the fastest routes using Dijkstra’s algorithm. It is widely used in large enterprise networks to intelligently route traffic.
  • Routing Redistribution (process of taking the routing information learned by one protocol or domain and injecting it into another)
  • SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol is an application-layer standard protocol used to monitor, manage, and configure IP-network devices like routers, switches, servers, and printers. It operates on UDP ports 161 and 162, enabling network management systems to collect data, track performance, and receive real-time alerts)
  • Network protocol ARP (Address Resolution Protocol primarily operates at Layer 2 (the Data Link Layer) of the OSI model. However, because it acts as the bridge that connects Layer 3 (Network Layer) IP addresses to Layer 2 MAC addresses, it is often described as working between Layers 2 and 3)
  • Network discovery. Network discovery is the automated process of scanning a network to find connected devices, map their relationships, and identify available services.
  • Device IP Addressing on LAN
  • IPSEC Tunnel
  • SD-WAN
  • QOS purpose/use
  • Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Monitoring tools; SolarWinds
  • NetScout
  • Projects and Deployments
  • Handling difficult requesters/users/tasks, * Cisco CCNA. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a premier entry-to-associate level IT credential. It validates foundational skills in networking, IP services, security, and automation. Applicable to Associate/Mid-Level.

Requirements

  • Cisco CCNP. The Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is a professional-level IT credential verifying advanced networking skills. Applicable for Sr. Network Eng.; Security Eng.; IT Manager; Network Architect.

Benefits & conditions

Pay: $61.00 - $68.00 per hour
