Job description

Palo Alto Networks Data Security team is looking for a seasoned and accomplished Engineering Manager to lead engineering efforts across building new capabilities and running platforms at scale.

As an engineering leader, you will:

  • Be part of a world-class software engineering team that works on various ground-breaking security service offerings
  • Lead the software development teams responsible to deliver highly scalable SaaS and Data Security solutions for a critical security portfolio
  • Be expected to lead and participate in all phases of the product development cycle, from definition, design, through implementation, test, and field deployment - This includes driving functional specifications, assessing task requirements and scheduling, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors, * Lead the technology strategy for building out world class data security solutions, influencing critical decisions on technology, architecture, integration, and go to market
  • Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on execution, quality, and speed
  • Lead cross-functionally with Product Management, Software, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver new security as a service offerings to the market in a timely fashion with excellent quality
  • Contribute to the design, architecture, process, and development discussions
  • Manage engineering teams that builds, designs, implements, and maintains cloud security infrastructure and platforms, owning e2e responsibilities of the solution
  • Develop a strong culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and openness
  • Work closely with customer support teams to improve end-customer outcomes
  • Be a strong mentor and coach to the team
  • Foster innovation in the organization

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in highly technical roles in development of enterprise services, at large organizations or innovative startups
  • Extensive hands-on experience and working knowledge of security concepts -SaaS and Data Security, deep understanding of web protocols, integration with third party APIs and services
  • Preferred experience with AI based conversational UI and chatbot platforms
  • Experience with the agile process and leading software development teams involved with building out full stack products, deployed on the cloud at scale
  • Experience with building and delivering services and workflows at scale, leveraging microservices architectures
  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
  • 5+ years experience with cloud-based architectures (AWS/Google Cloud Platform experience preferred)
  • Hands-on programming experience in one or more of the following - Java, Golang, Python
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud technologies like ElasticSearch, Redis, Kafka, Mongo DB, Spring Boot
  • Experience with full-stack development (Rest APIs, Databases, Serverless computing) of distributed cloud applications
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
  • Good understanding of public cloud design considerations and limitations in areas of microservice architectures, security, global network infrastructure, distributed systems, and load balancing
  • Strong understanding of principles of DevOps and Continuous Delivery
  • Strong leadership skills with a can-do attitude and ability to make trade-off judgements with data driven decision making
  • Enjoys working with many different teams with strong collaboration and communications skills, * BS/MS in Computer Science, other engineering/technical degree or equivalent military experience required

Benefits & conditions

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
