Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused IT Helpdesk Technician to join our Computer Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the technology that underpins teaching, learning and business operations across our College.

As an IT Helpdesk Technician, you will provide first and second-line technical support to staff and students, responding to helpdesk requests, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. The role offers exposure to a wide range of technologies including Microsoft 365, desktop and mobile devices, networking, telephony, AV equipment, printing services and Wi-Fi systems.

Working as part of a supportive and experienced IT team, you will contribute to maintaining a reliable, secure and high-performing IT environment across both Bishop Burton and Riseholme campuses.

  • Providing responsive technical support via the IT helpdesk.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and connectivity issues.
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment and applications.
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory and a range of college systems.
  • Assisting with the deployment of new hardware, software and desktop images.
  • Supporting AV, telephony, CCTV, printing and wireless network services.
  • Maintaining accurate IT asset and licensing records.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and support partners to deliver excellent IT services.

Requirements

Are you passionate about technology and delivering excellent customer service? Do you enjoy solving technical problems and helping others get the most from their IT systems?, * Level 3 qualification (or higher) in an IT-related subject.

  • Experience in an IT support or helpdesk environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and common desktop applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
