An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic data specialist to join Renfrewshire Council in the role of GIS, Data and Research Analyst. A key element of this role will be supporting an exciting new project, the Family Poverty Insight Partnership, a Scottish Government Child Poverty Accelerator funded initiative. The project will build a small-scale, locally governed Insight Partnership that uses existing data (e.g. education, housing, employability, benefits advice, public health) to proactively identify families showing early indicators of child poverty risk - and connect them quickly to the right mix of support.
Requirements
Alongside the project, the successful candidate will also be supporting our organisation to deliver better outcomes through effective data analysis and insight, as part of our Data Analytics and Research Team within the wider Policy and Partnerships service area. This role will suit a numerate individual with strong analytical skills and experience in data management, governance and visualisation. This is an ideal time to join Renfrewshire Council with many interesting workstreams underway to develop the use of data and digital technology in delivering and improving services. The successful candidate will play a key role in undertaking data, analytical and research activities, supporting the delivery of the Council’s key strategic priorities. This will include forecasting, modelling and statutory returns as required corporately and by Council services. You must be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. It is essential that you have experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation and experience in working with statistical data/ analytical packages / IT systems including Geographic Information Systems (GIS). You must also have effective analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data, have effective working knowledge of internal and external data sources for population profiling and to inform analysis of specific areas of interest to the Council and its partners, and have effective verbal and communication skills. Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 2 years or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
