Job description
- Assists staff with the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Manages software installations, updates, patches, and licensing compliance across personal computers and departmental systems.
- Collaborates with network operations and infrastructure staff to ensure seamless connectivity between endpoint devices, domain controllers, file servers, email systems, and enterprise administrative platforms.
- Acts as a primary point of contact for technical escalations, working directly with third-party vendor support to diagnose and resolve hardware and software failures.
- Advises department staff on technology best practices, evaluates functional requirements, and recommends hardware/software specifications for upcoming technology purchases.
- Performs preventative maintenance, recommends system upgrades to maximize hardware longevity, and manages the inventory of computer supplies and related technology materials.
- Provides front-line troubleshooting and technical assistance to students experiencing issues with campus computing labs, virtual learning environments, Wi-Fi connectivity, and official student accounts.
- Performs other relevant technical duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical proficiency in computer systems, networks, and software troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of information systems security principles to protect organization.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Database administration skills, including backup, recovery, and integrity checks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist non-technical staff., * An associate’s degree or vocational/technical school certification in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, and at least two (2) years of hands-on professional experience in enterprise software/hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance for personal computing environments is required., * Conditions are those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral communication with students and colleagues, the ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format in a timely manner, and sufficient mobility to be present and address students, their parents, and fellow professionals at appropriate college and regional functions.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 15 pounds; standing, sitting and/or walking for brief or long periods
