Job description
Description/Notes: * Oversee the District’s PEIMS reporting activities and remain current on PEIMS Data Standards, TEA Attendance Accounting, and TEA Academic Achievement Records requirements.
- Maintain accountability and communication for executing Texas Student Data System (TSDS) activities and support TSDS implementation, including the TSDS Unique ID system and Texas Records Exchange (TREx), managing simultaneous implementation of multiple TSDS components.
- Follow FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Supervise and support activities and processes related to master schedule development and the reporting and use of academic grades.
- Monitor and evaluate District processes for student-related record keeping and reporting, and identify practices and procedures that would improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee the development and delivery of training on the District’s Student Information System, online registration, and related communication and evaluation software, ensuring district and campus staff and other end users are trained on relevant data functions, dashboards, and the data warehouse.
- Continually assess campus, department, and district needs that can be met using the SIS, and ensure its ongoing enhancement through effective communication with campus/department staff and vendors and through effective program management and user support services.
- Serve as the critical interface for student information exchanged with the District’s data warehouse and other software and reporting systems, and maintain a working understanding of the source data vendors that feed those systems.
- Work closely with other departments, including Curriculum, to ensure District practices, protocols, policies, and procedures promote high-quality data entry, integrity, management, and analysis, and to coordinate District and campus data reporting needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practices, data quality standards, and methodologies to guide and govern data integrity.
- Perform statistical computing routines, conduct quality control procedures, and produce tables and/or reports using disparate databases per specifications on student reports.
- Follow SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) guidelines and techniques; design, code, implement, maintain, and document custom databases, web applications, forms, and web services.
- Recommend database and decision-support standards and assist in their implementation.
- Assist with routine database maintenance and conduct regular performance-tuning activities.
- Organize and/or participate in interdepartmental and intradepartmental collaboration, including Instructional Technology, Career & Technology, Bilingual/ESL, and advisory panels; participate in professional organizations related to the field.
- Provide input on school procedures for maintaining appropriate documentation for audit purposes.
- Make presentations on a variety of student data analysis topics.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrated experience in administrative technology (SIS) and knowledge of K-12 data and requirements for PEIMS reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Sequel (SQL) programming.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment; non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate.
