Job description
The IT Support Technician will provide practical, responsive first-line support to colleagues across our London and Delhi teams. This will be a hands-on role at the centre of day-to-day IT operations, covering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra account management, laptop and device administration, access to internal applications, security monitoring, documentation, reporting and the testing of our in-house systems.
Your role will provide valuable support to colleagues, result in faster response times and dependable first-line cover that keep them productive. Careful account administration, clear documentation and attentive security monitoring will keep our systems secure and well governed. Structured testing will help our in-house applications reach users reliably. Together these will strengthen the wider IT function and help us run efficient, resilient and cost-effective systems.
Key Responsibilities
Support & IT Management
- Microsoft Entra account management - account creation, removal, password resets, MS365 license management. Liaising with Chief of Staff and HR.
- Account management across bespoke database applications in conjunction with team leaders.
- Laptop Management - commissioning, diagnosing issues, resets, and managing warranty claims.
- First line support for all IT issues reported by staff in London and Delhi related to systems controlled by the London IT department.
- First line support for issues reported by clients in liaison with the relevant team within the London office.
Security & Maintenance
- Monitoring security systems, triaging and escalating critical alerts to the rest of the IT team.
- Handling e-mail quarantine reports and release requests.
- Investigating phishing reports and escalating when necessary.
- Patching and upgrading IT systems within the agreed maintenance window.
- Maintaining devices within the London office and liaising with hardware suppliers/connectivity partners when problems occur.
- Monitoring backups and verifying that scheduled jobs complete successfully.
- Assisting with disaster recovery testing and documenting the results.
Data
- Creating reports for teams using Grafana.
- Exporting data from our databases when requested by staff.
Documentation & Training
- Developing and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal guides for staff to follow.
- Maintaining ISO documents and keeping ISO records up to date.
- Working with Chief of Staff on training materials for new starters and for existing staff to be kept fresh.
Testing
- Testing our in-house developed applications and reporting issues using GitHub.
- Help to improve the quality of new features and bug fixes before user acceptance testing (UAT) by teams begins.
Who This Role Would Suit
Requirements
This role would suit a recent university graduate, or someone with equivalent training or experience, who has studied Computer Science, Information Technology or a related subject and wants to build a broad career in IT support and systems administration and has one or two years of experience or a good level of knowledge relevant to the role.
You will gain exposure across the full breadth of an IT function - account and device administration, security operations, documentation and standards, reporting, and software testing.
An interest in databases, web development, PHP, Symfony, cloud computing or Kubernetes would be helpful, but none of these are essential. We are happy to develop the right person. Experience Desired
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Policy creation and management.
- Overall good experience with Office 365 system administration.
- Experience with Exchange.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of developing integrations with Power Apps, Power Pages and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of developing enterprise and Teams sites and other integrations with SharePoint.
- Knowledge of Azure, in particular Compute and Storage solutions.
- Knowledge of networking, firewalls, routers and NAS.
- An understanding of Linux and Bash.
