Job description

Experteer Overview As the Enterprise Architect of AI, you will define and govern AEP’s AI/ML architecture to enable scalable, secure AI adoption across grid ops, customer platforms, and corporate functions. You’ll bridge enterprise architecture, data, and analytics to translate business priorities into reusable AI reference models and standards. You will work with engineering, data science, cybersecurity, and business leaders to ensure compliant, interoperable AI solutions that align with strategy and regulation. This role offers influence across platforms and a chance to shape AEP’s AI posture at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Define and maintain enterprise AI/ML and GenAI reference architectures, components, patterns, and standards across cloud, on-premises, and edge environments * Translate business use cases into scalable, production-ready designs for internal teams and vendors * Establish architectural blueprints for real-time, batch, and edge-based AI decisioning * Ensure alignment between AI solutions, data platforms, integration patterns, and core systems * Build prototypes and reference implementations to validate decisions and accelerate adoption * Evolve internal AI platforms and developer environments (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, Azure ML, Azure OpenAI; AWS Bedrock) * Standardize reusable GenAI patterns (embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation) * Create templates, starter kits, and repositories to streamline build-to-deploy * Guide workflow and platform integrations for usability, reliability, and governance (OpenShift, model registry) * Evaluate emerging AI technologies for fit within regulated environment * Support modernization of legacy systems to enable AI-enabled workflows * Establish architectural guardrails for responsible AI (privacy, security, compliance) * Translate responsible AI standards into actionable guardrails and controls * Automate responsible AI controls where practical * Embed security and governance into patterns (IAM/RBAC, auditability) * Ensure AI solutions align with enterprise governance and cybersecurity standards * Provide architectural review to mitigate risk and ensure sustainability * Act as trusted advisor to business tech, data science, engineering, cybersecurity, and compliance partners * Collaborate with domain architects to apply AI standards consistently * Provide hands-on guidance through standards, reviews, and deep-dives * Set technical direction and align stakeholders through influence * Communicate AI architecture concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences * Contribute to enterprise tech strategy by identifying AI-driven business outcomes * Document and socialize AI roadmaps and transition strategies * Stay current on AI architecture trends to evolve AEP’s AI posture Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field * 12+ years of relevant experience in enterprise or solution architecture and AI/ML design or governance in complex enterprises * Ability to influence and drive alignment without direct authority * Proven ability to communicate architectural vision to senior leadership * Vendor technical leadership: review delivered work and drive quality outcomes Key requirements *
