Job description
- Receive, inspect, and verify racks, cabinets, cages, and related equipment before installation.
- Install and secure racks, cabinets, and cage structures in raised-floor or slab data center environments.
- Assemble cage components including panels, doors, locks, and hardware.
- Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, switches, storage systems, PDUs, and other network equipment.
- Route, organize, and secure copper, fiber, and power cabling following industry best practices.
- Connect power and network cables to patch panels, cross-connects, and designated circuits.
- Label racks, devices, cables, ports, and rack units according to documentation standards.
- Perform basic power-on verification, connectivity checks, and installation testing.
- Maintain accurate installation records, including serial numbers, asset details, and completion reports.
- Follow all data center safety, security, and access control procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with data center floor layout planning and equipment placement.
- Verify proper alignment, spacing, and accessibility of installed equipment.
- Support cage build-outs and prepare infrastructure for production readiness.
- Participate in equipment de-installations, upgrades, relocations, and Moves/Adds/Changes (MAC) activities.
- Coordinate with project teams to complete installation tasks within project timelines.
Requirements
We are seeking a Data Center Installation Technician to support data center infrastructure deployments, including rack and cage installations, hardware setup, cabling, and equipment testing. The ideal candidate will have experience working in data center environments, installing IT hardware, managing structured cabling, and ensuring installations meet safety and quality standards., * Experience working in a data center or IT infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards for fiber optic, copper, and power cabling.
- Hands-on experience with rack installation, rack-and-stack, and hardware deployment.
- Ability to read installation layouts and follow detailed work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to safely lift and move IT equipment.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, raised floors, and physically demanding environments.
- Proficiency with hand tools, drills, and standard installation equipment., * Experience installing servers, network switches, storage systems, and PDUs.
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure best practices and cable management.
- Familiarity with data center safety standards and operational procedures.
- Experience supporting enterprise data center deployments or colocation facilities.
