Job description
Experteer Overview As part of Broadcom’s team, you will design and develop low-level Ethernet/PCIe PHY drivers and associated firmware for Broadcom PHY chip sets. You’ll convert customer needs into APIs, contribute to SDK and driver pipelines, and collaborate with chip and application teams to address complex telemetry and performance requirements. You will impact next-generation networks by improving hardware-software integration and test automation. This role combines hands-on coding with cross-functional influence in a dynamic hardware-focused environment. Compensation / Benefits * Design and develop Ethernet, PCIe, and FlexE PHY low-level drivers * Firmware development and L1 switch protocol development * Code reviews, bug fixes, and maintenance of drivers * Review test plans and conduct unit-level testing of drivers * Translate customer requirements into API definitions and develop/test APIs * Add automation and scripting to development workflows * Maintain SDK and Standalone release branches for targeted customers * Identify new methodologies or tools for Software SDK/Device Driver development * Act as technical liaison between Chip Development and Application Teams/Customers Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics (or equivalent) * 5 years of Embedded/Device Driver/Protocol Software Design, Development and Testing experience * Working knowledge of PCIe retimer and switches * FW development experience for RX equalization, DFE/FFE adaptation, eye monitoring of Serdes IPs * Experience with pre-silicon/RTL and SW co-simulation * Experience with customer system software application debugging on complex platforms * Experience with level one switch protocol * Knowledge of MacSec encryption/decryption drivers * Knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Physical layer standards * Strong coding and debugging in C/C++ * Static code analysis and debugging for high-quality code * Self-motivated team player; initiative * Experience with device driver development and hardware bus protocols (MDIO, I2C) * Knowledge of register-level API development for transceivers (plus) * Experience with IEEE 802.3 physical layer standards, Autonegotiation, Transmit training, FEC (preferred) * Experience with L1/L2 Ethernet, PCS/MAC layer (plus) * Experience with hardware platforms in the lab (plus) * Linux/VxWorks or equivalent OS experience * Hardware understanding and schematics essential * Experience with traffic generation tools like IXIA or Spirent (plus) * Ability to troubleshoot complex problems innovatively * Customer interaction/support experience * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Ability to adopt new techniques and promote them within the project Key requirements * Discretionary annual bonus * Equity grants and annual equity awards * 401(k) with company matching * Medical, dental and vision plans * Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) * Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
