Job description

Most developers build for the perfect environment: the latest OS on high-end hardware. We build for the real world. From the living room (FireTV, AppleTV) to the palm of the hand (iOS, Android) - we create the invisible glue that makes seamless experiences possible across a fragmented hardware universe.

At smartclip, you don’t just write components; you define how they interact. You make sure every platform we support - from the living room to the phone in someone’s pocket - shares one coherent, scalable architecture instead of a patchwork of one-off solutions.

Your Mission

  • Cross-Platform Engineering: Develop and evolve high-performance SDKs that run flawlessly across the entire CTV and Mobile ecosystem (AppleTV, FireTV, Android, HbbTV, iOS).
  • Strategic Synergy & Alignment: Drive technical cohesion by identifying platform overlaps and aligning architectures to ensure a unified language across all SDKs and tools.
  • Technical Ownership & Roadmap: Influence the product direction by balancing rapid feature delivery with strategic refactoring and the reduction of technical debt.
  • Native Performance & Depth: Implement platform-specific logic on top of a shared TypeScript core to ensure our SDKs feel truly native on every operating system.
  • Quality & Mentorship: Establish a bulletproof testing culture using Jest and Vitest, while elevating the team through mentorship and high-standard code reviews., * Ownership over tickets: You’re trusted with real responsibility, not just tasks. No unnecessary bureaucracy, no micromanagement - we rely on you to take things forward.
  • Build > Talk: We test what works - not what sounds good. Fail fast, learn faster.
  • High standards, low ego: We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Direct feedback, honest collaboration, no drama.
  • Stay sharp: Hackathons, conferences, community - we invest in your growth and keep you at the cutting edge.
  • And yes - the fundamentals are covered too: 30 days of vacation + Dec 24 & 31 off, Smart Fridays (4 days week possible), mobility (Germany ticket & JobRad), sports & health offerings, mental health support, corporate benefits, RTL+ access, and more.

Requirements

Your Skills

  • TypeScript Powerhouse: You moved beyond the basics to work on complex architectures - and can still find your way through Vanilla JavaScript when a platform demands it.
  • Cross-Platform Mindset: Experience in Mobile development (React Native, Kotlin, Swift) or device-specific engineering. You understand how to optimise for limited resources.
  • Testing Obsession: You don’t ship until the edge cases are conquered. Jest and Vitest are your primary weapons.
  • Collaboration Spirit: You enjoy being the ā€œNetworkerā€ who brings different technical perspectives together to find the best solution.

Bonus XP (The Edge):

  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
  • Ability to navigate Grafana dashboards and Graylog traces to pinpoint issues in the wild.
