Principal Software Engineer - Azure Storage

Experteer Overview As a Principal Software Engineer for Azure Storage Geo Replication, you shape the long-term strategy and technical direction for large-scale, geo-distributed data protection. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, region-spanning replication and recovery capabilities at exabyte scale. You’ll advance operational excellence through telemetry, observability, and AI-enhanced engineering to improve service health. This role offers impact on a cornerstone cloud service and opportunities to influence Microsoft’s cloud data resilience at planetary scale. Compensation / Benefits * Define and drive the long-term technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Azure Storage Geo Replication * Drive architecture decisions across data replication, failover orchestration, business continuity, and recovery capabilities * Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams across Azure to deliver strategic investments and customer value * Champion operational excellence through telemetry, automation, observability, resiliency testing, and incident management practices * Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering and intelligent operations to accelerate development, improve reliability, and enhance service health * Represent the team in executive reviews, customer engagements, strategic planning forums, and cross-organizational architecture discussions Tasks * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience * Strong coding experience in one or more of the listed languages Key requirements *
