Sr Software Engineer

Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Sr Software Engineer (contract). In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of new product capabilities while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. This role is hybrid in Austin, Tx., * Design, develop, and support scalable back-end applications and cloud services.

• Build new features and enhance existing platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture, design decisions, and technical roadmaps.
• Develop reliable, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Analyze system performance and implement optimization strategies.
• Leverage modern technologies, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency and business outcomes.
• Communicate technical concepts and project updates effectively with stakeholders.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 4+ years of development experience using modern programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, C#, or similar technologies.
• Strong experience designing and developing distributed, scalable, and highly available systems.
• Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, performance, reliability, and scalability principles.
• Experience utilizing AI-powered tools and technologies to improve development processes, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment., * Experience contributing to complex enterprise or SaaS-based platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and drive architectural decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting team development.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
