Epic Willow Analyst

Overview An Epic Willow Analyst specializes in optimizing and supporting the Epic Willow modules (pharmacy-related systems in Epic EHR) through design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting across healthcare environments. They ensure seamless medication workflows and user satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Design, build, test, implement, and maintain Epic Willow modules (e.g., Willow Inpatient, Ambulatory, Inventory) Collaborate closely with pharmacists, clinical staff, and IT for workflow design, optimization, and issue resolution Troubleshoot user issues, configuration challenges, and system glitches; provide ongoing support post-implementation Conduct root cause analysis, identify solutions, document, and implement changes Lead or support go-lives, upgrades, system changes, and user training initiatives. Prepare training materials, system documentation, flowcharts, and reports detailing configuration and workflow logic Serve as a liaison between end-users (pharmacy, clinicians) and InfoSystems teams, fostering trust and clear communication Participate in change and project management; support small to medium-scale Epic Willow projects

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare, or a related field (Associates + experience may substitute in some cases) Certifications: Epic Willow module certification (Inpatient, Ambulatory, Inventory); some employers require certification upon hire or within a set timeframe (e.g., 120 days) Experience: Typically 3+ years in Epic roles; variations across levels (I, II, III) depending on seniority Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflows, inventory management, Epic configurations, interfaces, and general EHR operations Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, effective communication, documentation, training capability, stakeholder engagement, flexibility, and ownership of assignments Career Levels Example (PIH Health) Analyst I: Bachelor’s or clinical license, minimal to 3 years of experience.
