Senior AI & Machine Learning Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role, you will lead end-to-end ML engineering efforts to deliver AI/GenAI solutions across USAA’s businesses. You’ll collaborate with data scientists and partners to design and implement ML models, data pipelines, and API-driven services in cloud/on-prem environments. The position emphasizes mentoring, technical leadership, and shaping ML patterns at scale to enhance member service. Compensation / Benefits * Lead full ML engineering lifecycle: analysis, design, data pipelines, testing, deployment, and production support for ML/GenAI solutions * Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to define approaches and provide technical feedback * Configure and manage ML infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments (AWS, GCP, graph databases) * Influence ML model implementation patterns with architects and define design patterns for complex environments * Create proofs of concept and prototypes, present to leadership to drive vision * Mentor and guide team members, setting technical direction and ensuring risk/compliance controls * Ensure data quality, governance, and compliant risk management for business activities Tasks * Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant education/experience * 6+ years of ML engineering, data engineering, or software development experience * Extensive programming experience (Python, SQL, Java) * Extensive data engineering experience and end-to-end ML/AI solution delivery * Experience with data pipelines, data marts, data lakes, and analytics applications * Experience with agile methodologies and ML Ops * Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring abilities * Knowledge of Data Science principles and stochastic modeling/mathematics * Effective communication to both technical and non-technical audiences * Expert knowledge of at least one cloud platform (e.g., AWS Sagemaker) * Experience with GenAI applications * Ability to work in a regulated financial services environment Key requirements * comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans * 401(k) and pension * life insurance * parential benefits and adoption assistance * paid time off and 16 paid volunteer hours * wellness programs and career development support
